black mold There are three basic things you need to know about black mold:

1. It is toxic enough to make you very sick or die.
2. It thrives in warm, damp areas inside a home.
3. It spreads quickly if not stopped.

With this said, you need to be conscious of its existence in your house, leant to recognize it and know what to do to get rid of it. You will most likely find in where there has been water damage, a water leak or areas of excessive humidity. Start by checking your attic, crawl spaces, bathrooms, laundry rooms or any part of your home that once had a water leak or frequently is subject to high moisture content in the air.

Next, look for patches along the baseboard and walls that are lightly or densely spotted with a dark, moldy substance. It can be slimy and wet or dry and powdery. Often you will see dark shadows along the bottom of the baseboard where it meets with flooring that contains dampness. Black mold colonizes in these areas and spreads out, usually by climbing up the walls. It grows on the surface of drywall and into the insulation behind the walls. Left to its own devices, it will eventually infiltrate the entire house.

Have you observed any unusual health conditions in your family lately, such as sinus issues, breathing problems or skin irritations? Do people seem to catch colds but never get over them? These are indications that you have a black mold problem. You need to call a roof repair contractor or home inspector to confirm this. Don’t put it off until later, this stuff is dangerous.
